Karlsruhe Institute of Technology shall be obliged to protect the private sphere of all persons using our site and to treat confidentially the personal data transmitted to us. Use of Google Analytics

On the KIT website, the Google Analytics web analysis service of Google Inc. is used. Google Analytics applies cookies that are stored on the computer of the user and allow for an analysis of the use of the website. The information on the use of the website generated by the cookie - including IP address - is usually transmitted to a server of Google in the USA and stored there.

Kindly note that the IP address of the user on the KIT website is anonymized, which is ensured by using the function „gat._anonymizeIp(); in the Google Analytics tracking code. Consequently, the IP address is shortened before transmission by Google in member states of the European Union or in other states having signed the European Economic Area Agreement. Only in exceptional cases is the complete IP address transmitted to the server of Google in the USA and shortened there.

On behalf of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Google will use this information to evaluate the use of the KIT website, compile reports about the website activities, and to render additional services associated with the use of the website and internet to KIT. The IP address transmitted by the browser of the user in Google Analytics is not combined with any other data of Google.

Protection of the User Data from Google Analytics

Acquisition of the data on the use of the website generated by the cookie (including IP address), transmission to Google, and the processing of these data by Google can be prevented by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link (http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en).

Another possibility of preventing the recording of the user behavior is to deactivate the option field in the footer on every page. This setting is stored in a cookie and will be valid as long as it is not deleted or another browser is used.
